REQUIREMENTS: The mission of the video surveillance system in that particular case was the attendance count in the store, i.e. establishing the number of people who enter and leave Burgas Plaza Mall through its three entrances. Next to this, we had to project a system that generates checks from the collected statistical information. The system doesn’t fulfill guardian or observatory functions.
SOLUTION: In order to meet the requirements of the clients, MAVEN developed a concept for the location of the cameras so as to follow a maximum visitor flow. With this aim in mind, we installed an Axis IP camera with varifocal optics at each entrance that counts the number of visitors passing through. Considering the large space within Burgas Plaza Mall, a high speed optic network was projected, meant to connect the cameras to the recording server. The software that counts the visitors is integrated with the recording server, equipped with a RAID massive against unforeseen situations. The statistical information is sent to a previously determined recipient via e-mail on a daily basis.
RESULT: All stakeholders interested in this information were granted access to the statistical data following the building of the system. It remains open to the installation of more cameras. The expenses on the enlargement of the system would be minimal. MAVEN continues the development of its platform with the intention of meeting all requirements put forward by Burgas Plaza Mall. The margin of error works out at approximately 3% during intensive traffic hours and 2% during the less intensive hours. |
